A series of photographic diptychs built around a simple experiment: the same scene is repeated, but the genders of the participants are reversed.
In each diptych, one figure occupies a position of comfort, control, or observation, while the other is transformed into a functional object. The structure of the image remains almost unchanged. But does the viewer’s perception remain the same?
Does the meaning of the image remain stable? Does objectification belong to the body being looked at, or to the structures of power through which it is interpreted? Are we responding to what we see, or to the cultural conventions we have become accustomed to? The work invites viewers to examine their own perceptions and the assumptions that shape them.
